Minimally counterintuitive stimuli trigger greater curiosity than merely improbable stimuli

Minimally counterintuitive (MCI) stimuli, which violate one intuitive theory, spark more curiosity than unlikely events. However, extreme violations do not increase curiosity further, showing surprisingness has diminishing returns.
