Background:

Hospital-based safe infant sleep education is crucial for reducing risks of sudden unexpected infant death (SUID) and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).
Consistent implementation of safe sleep practices in the hospital setting reinforces parental education and promotes continued safe sleep behaviors post-discharge.

Purpose of the Study:

To assess the knowledge of safe sleep recommendations among perinatal healthcare professionals, including nurses, nursing assistants, and physicians.
To evaluate the implementation of safe sleep practices within a mother-baby unit.

Main Methods:

A survey was administered to 144 perinatal healthcare team members on a level III maternity service.
A 1-year audit of safe sleep adherence was conducted for 120 mother-baby couplets on the unit.
