Background:

Effective patient-provider partnerships enhance virtual care quality.
Digital literacy is crucial for successful patient engagement in telehealth.
Adults with chronic conditions may face barriers to virtual care participation due to skill gaps.

Purpose of the Study:

To identify resources supporting adults with chronic health challenges in virtual care partnerships.
To explore existing literature on enabling patient participation in virtual healthcare teams.

Main Methods:

Scoping review of peer-reviewed and grey literature from 2011-2022.
Qualitative synthesis of 14 peer-reviewed and 84 grey literature sources.
Duplicate extraction and analysis of relevant information.

Main Results:

Identified resources include virtual workflow frameworks and 'webside manner' guidelines.
Virtual patient support personnel were also noted as a key resource.
Significant gaps persist in synchronous virtual care resources for this population.

Conclusions:

Existing resources for virtual care partnerships among adults with chronic conditions are insufficient.
Further development is needed in synchronous virtual care support and digital literacy training.
Addressing these gaps is essential for equitable and effective telehealth.
