Effective VTE prophylaxis with enoxaparin after elective THR or TKR: a retrospective observational study

Orthopedic patients undergoing hip or knee replacement (THR/TKR) showed low venous thromboembolism (VTE) rates with enoxaparin prophylaxis. High compliance with VTE prophylaxis led to minimal VTE events in this study.

- The incidence of VTE was 3.13% in the THR group and 0.69% in the TKR group.
Conclusions:
- Enoxaparin 40 mg once daily for up to 35 days is the standard VTE prophylaxis for THR/TKR at CHUdSA.
- High therapeutic compliance rates contributed to a low incidence of VTE events.
- The implemented VTE prophylaxis strategy proved effective in minimizing VTE occurrence post-orthopedic surgery.
