Arthralgia in female Masters weightlifters

Joint pain (arthralgia) is common in female weightlifters, especially after menopause. Heavier lifting and prior injuries increase risk, while prior strength training may protect shoulder joints.

- Prior strength training demonstrated a protective effect on shoulder joints. Coaches and sports medicine professionals should consider menopausal status and injury history in managing joint pain in these athletes.
