Summary

Primary trabeculectomy is a safe and effective surgical option for lowering intraocular pressure in patients with glaucoma and high myopia. This procedure demonstrated comparable safety and efficacy to controls without high myopia.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the efficacy and safety of primary trabeculectomy in patients diagnosed with glaucoma and high myopia.
  • To compare surgical outcomes in high myopia patients with a matched control group.

Main Methods:

  • A retrospective case-control study comparing 45 high myopia glaucoma patients with 45 age-matched controls.
  • Surgical success defined by IOP reduction and target IOP levels at 48 months post-surgery.
