Severe Oral Mucositis After Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy for Head and Neck Cancer

Severe oral mucositis (OM) affects over 60% of head and neck cancer patients undergoing radiation therapy. Higher OM severity correlates with increased need for feeding tubes, hospitalization, opiate use, and weight loss, highlighting a need for better management strategies.
