Purpose of the Study:

  • To assess the feasibility and tolerability of a bone-strengthening jumping intervention in postmenopausal women.

  • Forty-nine postmenopausal women (mean age 57.8 years) were randomized into exercise or sham-control groups.
  • Intervention: 10 maximal countermovement jumps, 3x/week for 8 months.

  • The jumping intervention was well-tolerated, with 95% adherence.
  • No significant differences in calcaneal broadband ultrasound attenuation (BUA) were observed between groups.

  • Significant bone strength gains were not detected, possibly due to study power and physiological factors.
