A new solid phase peptide synthesis (SPPS) method eliminates solvent-intensive washing steps. This breakthrough significantly reduces waste and speeds up peptide production without compromising quality.

Solid phase peptide synthesis (SPPS) is a cornerstone of peptide production.
Traditional SPPS involves numerous solvent-intensive washing steps, leading to significant waste and longer processing times.

To develop a novel SPPS process that eliminates solvent-intensive washing steps.
To improve the efficiency, speed, and sustainability of peptide manufacturing.

Main Methods:

Introduced a process for SPPS that removes the volatile Fmoc deprotection base via bulk evaporation.
Utilized directed headspace gas flushing to prevent condensation during evaporation.
Demonstrated the process at research and production scales.
