Background:

Primary care providers (PCPs) face challenges in accessing dermatology specialty care.
Underserved populations often experience significant barriers to dermatologic care.
Electronic consultations (e-consults) offer a potential solution to improve access and efficiency.

Purpose of the Study:

To evaluate the impact of a dermatology e-consult program on patient access and outcomes.
To assess the effectiveness of e-consults in reducing wait times and healthcare expenditures.
To examine the role of e-consults in overcoming barriers for underserved patients.

Main Methods:

Retrospective chart review of a dermatology e-consult program at a tertiary care center.
Analysis of patient outcomes, wait times, and healthcare costs associated with e-consults.
Comparison of care delivery models with and without the e-consult program.

Dermatology e-consults significantly increased patient access to specialty dermatologic care.
