This study compared oscillometry measurements from MasterScreen-IOS® and MostGraph-01® devices in asthma patients. While values correlate, slight variations exist, necessitating conversion equations for consistent interpretation of forced oscillation technique data.
Area of Science:
- Pulmonary Physiology
- Medical Device Technology
Background:
- Oscillometry devices, including MasterScreen-IOS® and MostGraph-01®, aid in assessing obstructive lung diseases like asthma.
- Direct comparison of oscillometry measurements between MasterScreen-IOS® and MostGraph-01® in asthma patients is lacking.
Purpose of the Study:
- To determine if significant differences exist in oscillometry measurements between MasterScreen-IOS® and MostGraph-01® in asthma patients.
Main Methods:
- Retrospective analysis of oscillometry data from 95 asthma patients.
- Measurements were obtained using both MasterScreen-IOS® and MostGraph-01® devices.
Main Results:
- Strong positive correlation observed between the two devices.
- Specific parameters (R5, R20, ALX, Fres) showed lower values with MostGraph-01®, while X5 values were higher.
- Correction equations were developed to convert measurements between devices.
Conclusions:
- This is the first study comparing MostGraph-01® and MasterScreen-IOS® using clinical asthma data.
- While values show slight variations, they are generally comparable.
- Developed conversion equations can facilitate inter-device comparison of oscillometry data.
