Summary

SARS-CoV-2 infection impacts leukocyte telomere length (LTL), but this study found no direct link between LTL and cognitive changes in post-COVID-19 patients. Further research is needed to understand neurological impacts.

  • Cognitive function assessed using MoCA and MMSE scales.
  • Leukocyte telomere length (LTL) measured via PCR; statistical analysis included ANOVA and X2 tests.

Main Results:

  • Individuals with post-COVID-19 conditions showed decreased LTL compared to uninfected controls (p ≤ 0.05).
  • No significant association was found between LTL and cognitive impairment in post-COVID-19 subjects.

Conclusions:

  • SARS-CoV-2 infection affects LTL.
  • Further research is required to monitor neurological changes in post-COVID-19 conditions.
