Purpose of the Study:

  • To analyze the impact of axial length (AL) on the dose effect (DE) of horizontal strabismus surgery.
  • To evaluate the clinical relevance of AL in relation to surgical outcomes.

  • Retrospective analysis of horizontal strabismus surgery patients (2020-2023).
  • Inclusion of 65 patients (34 male, 31 female) with a mean age of 18.0 years.
  • Descriptive analysis and ANOVA (R 4.1.2) were employed for statistical evaluation.

  • Mean AL was 23.50 mm. At 3 months, 83.1% achieved binocularity.

Conclusions:

  • No significant correlation found between axial length (AL) and the dose effect (DE) of strabismus surgery.
  • Strabismus type and achieved binocularity significantly influenced the surgical DE.
  • AL remains vital for surgical planning, particularly for assessing risks in high myopia.
