[Recommendations for strengthening the implementation of the National Food and Nutrition Policy]

This study aimed to develop recommendations for strengthening the National Food and Nutrition Policy (PNAN), identifying possible innovations, actions and strategies that can be implemented and/or promoted at the national level to strengthen the implementation of the policy. Qualitative methodology and thematic analysis were used to explore the collective opinion of a group of Brazilian experts in food and nutrition in the health sector regarding actions that could be carried out at the national level to strengthen the implementation of PNAN in the country. 51 recommendations were presented, grouped into 14 themes: financing, professional nutritionist, training, management, social control, technologies, structure, information systems, evaluation and monitoring, communication, conflict of interest, regulatory agenda, international agenda and intersectoral agenda. The guarantee of funding, the presence of a professional nutritionist and training were themes that appeared across the board as guidance to strengthen the implementation of all PNAN guidelines. The recommendations presented in this study can contribute to the implementation of the PNAN.
