Survey of Pathologic Microorganisms in the Streams Along the Tahoe Rim Trail.

Water sources along the Tahoe Rim Trail (TRT) show low levels of Escherichia coli, Giardia, and Cryptosporidium. While occasional consumption risk is low, always filter backcountry water for safety.
