Use of a 3D-printed Model for Autotransplantation Adjacent to a Cleft Site

Abstract:
Early loss of teeth in the premaxilla can limit future restorative options. One solution is replacement using autotransplantation. This surgical technique can be optimized by using 3D-printed models to aid in planning and improving the prognosis. The pur- pose of this case report is to describe the autotransplantation of a premolar into the site of a hopeless maxillary incisor in a 12-year-old male with bilateral cleft lip and palate who had missed previous bone grafting opportunities, using a 3D-printed ana- logue. After a 25-month-follow-up, the autotransplantation continued to be successful and the patient was able to progress with other restorative procedures.
