Field of vision is an important aspect of a person's overall vision. Many disease processes may impact a patient's visual field. Perimetry is the systematic measurement of a patient's visual field and can be used to diagnose intraocular, extraocular, and intracranial causes of vision loss. Visual field loss follows specific patterns based on the underlying etiology and can be tracked for progression or improvement. Oculoplastic surgeons can use visual fields to document loss of vision from eyelid/brow positioning for insurance purposes.
