Abstract:
This study aimed to investigate the relationship between the aqueous humor microenvironment in diabetic cataract patients and postoperative macular edema and visual acuity changes. A total of 50 diabetic cataract patients who underwent phacoemulsification were included. Aqueous humor samples were collected during surgery, and various cytokines and inflammatory mediators were detected. Postoperative macular edema was evaluated by optical coherence tomography (OCT), and visual acuity was measured. The results showed that the levels of certain cytokines and inflammatory mediators in the aqueous humor of diabetic cataract patients were significantly different from those in non - diabetic cataract patients. These abnormal factors in the aqueous humor were closely related to the occurrence and development of postoperative macular edema. Patients with more severe postoperative macular edema had worse visual acuity. In conclusion, the aqueous humor microenvironment in diabetic cataract patients plays an important role in postoperative macular edema and visual acuity changes, which provides a theoretical basis for the prevention and treatment of related complications.
