Abstract:
This case report details a 50-year-old male with a ruptured intracranial dermoid cyst in the right lateral wall of the cavernous sinus-Meckel cave area, leading to delayed cerebral ischemia postsurgery. The rupture released lipid components, potentially causing inflammatory vascular reactions and ischemic events. Initial symptoms included binocular diplopia and later progressed to limb weakness and facial twitching. Imaging revealed cerebral infarction and vascular stenosis, which were managed with nimodipine, steroids, and other therapies, resulting in significant recovery. This case highlights the need for careful surgical handling and postoperative monitoring to prevent complications, emphasizing a multidisciplinary approach for managing dermoid cysts in complex anatomic regions.
