Abstract:
This study conducted a retrospective analysis of a severe poisoning case caused by skin contact with monomethylamine, which was treated at the Affiliated Hospital of Yunnan University in November 2021. The aim of the study was to summarize the clinical manifestations, examination results, and treatment process of this case. After exposure to monomethylamine, the patient exhibited early symptoms such as dry vomiting and muttering, followed by disturbance of consciousness and multiple system dysfunction. Through comprehensive treatment measures, the patient ultimately regained consciousness and was discharged smoothly. This study reported in detail a severe poisoning case caused by skin contact with monomethylamine, revealing the clinical characteristics and treatment strategies of monomethylamine poisoning, providing references and guidance for clinical diagnosis and treatment. At the same time, this study also deeply explored the potential mechanisms and prevention strategies of monomethylamine poisoning, offering useful insights for public health education and chemical safety management.

Prevention of Further Absorption of Poison
Toxic Reactions: Overview
Toxicity falls into two primary categories: local and systemic.
Local toxicity appears at the exposure site, such as protein denaturation caused by caustic substances.
In contrast, systemic toxicity requires the toxic agent's absorption and distribution,...
Anticholinesterase Agents: Poisoning and Treatment
Irreversible agents form a strong bond with the cholinesterase enzyme, making it inactive. The breakdown of the phosphorylated enzyme is...
Types of Toxins
Air pollutants, primarily gases, pose significant threats to respiratory health, leading to conditions like hypoxia, lung cancer, and in extreme cases, death.
Environmental pollutants like...
Antidotes
Specific antidotes operate by inhibiting the enzymes that control biochemical pathways, reducing the production of harmful metabolites.
An example of an antidote is atropine, which counteracts the detrimental effects of cholinesterase inhibitors. It achieves this by deactivating muscarinic receptors,...
Local Anesthetics: Adverse Effects
Once absorbed into the systemic circulation, local anesthetics can affect the organs that depend on the functioning of sodium...
