  • A prospective, observational, survey-based study was conducted.
  • Participants completed surveys at baseline, 6 months, and 12 months.
  • Healthcare utilization patterns were tracked over a one-year period.

  • A total of 33 participants completed the baseline survey, with 76% and 68% completing 6- and 12-month follow-ups, respectively.
  • At baseline, 70% of students intended to see a healthcare provider within 1-3 years.
  • Approximately 32-35% of participants visited a primary healthcare provider at the 6- and 12-month follow-ups.

Conclusions:

  • Healthcare utilization rates among students using pharmacy contraceptive prescribing were comparable to published rates for preventive services in this demographic.
  • Pharmacist contraceptive prescribing serves as a valuable additional access point for reproductive healthcare.
  • This model presents opportunities for pharmacists to refer students for essential preventive services.
