1Author Affiliation: Senior Director Magnet Recognition Program, American Nurses Credentialing Center, Silver Spring, Maryland.
Abstract:
According to Nurse.com, approximately 28% of new graduates leave their 1st year of hire and 50% leave within 2 years of hire, and some leave nursing altogether. Magnet® organizations have a responsibility to create a transition-to-practice program that supports new graduates by providing a culture of engagement and support. Evidence is the basis of the framework that needs to be leveraged to create the culture. This column will review the 5 domains of a successful transition-to-practice program.
