Molecular Dynamics Study on the Thermal Transport Properties at the Interface of Natural Rubber and Polybutadiene

Abstract:
Temperature and pressure play a crucial role in the thermal conductivity of rubber and interfacial heat transport between different rubber materials. In this study, molecular dynamics simulations were employed to investigate the thermal conductivity of natural rubber (NR) and polybutadiene (PB) under varying temperature and pressure conditions, as well as their interfacial heat transport properties. The results indicate that the thermal conductivity of rubber increases with temperature, while pressure has no significant effect. As the temperature increases from 200 to 400 K, the interfacial thickness between NR and PB increases by 286.54%, and the interfacial thermal resistance rises by a factor of 7.85. However, the effect of pressure on interfacial thermal resistance does not exhibit a linear trend. Therefore, temperature is identified as the key factor influencing thermal transport in rubber materials. These findings provide important theoretical guidance for the application of rubber materials in thermal management.
