Background:

Artificial intelligence (AI) offers significant advancements but its impact on social work students is under-researched.
Understanding student perspectives is crucial for effective AI integration in social work education.

Purpose of the Study:

To explore social work students' perceptions and concerns regarding artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.
To identify key themes related to AI's impact on social work students.

Main Methods:

Structured interviews were conducted with 15 social work students.
An interview guide was used, requiring no prior AI knowledge from participants.

Main Results:

Thematic analysis revealed five key themes: increased efficiency, ethical considerations, risk concerns, psychological impacts, and societal impacts.
Student perspectives highlight both the potential benefits and risks associated with AI in social work.

Conclusions:

Social work education must research AI's utility and explore student perspectives for responsible integration.
Recommendations address digital literacy, ethics, and accreditation to prepare students for AI in social services.
