Managing Hypertension Remotely With A Digital Program:
UTOPIA OR REALITY? Digital hypertension management programs provide patients with remote advice on lifestyle, compliance and medication management. Telemonitoring offers a digital pathway from self-measurement to prescription, while self-monitoring algorithms involve patients in their care and triage the healthcare pathway. Several of these programs have proved their worth. While open-access hypertension self-diagnosis and self-monitoring applications are beginning to be used routinely by patients, prescription-based remote hypertension monitoring remains very marginal in France. In addition to financing difficulties, there are human obstacles: what proportion of patients will agree to be treated remotely, and how much confidence will they have in the algorithms?
