ASO Practice Guideline Series: Management of Colorectal Peritoneal Metastases

Background:
Colorectal peritoneal metastases (CRPM) represent a significant treatment challenge for patients with colorectal cancer that significantly impact quality of life and limit survival.
Patients And Methods:
Systemic chemotherapy represents the current mainstay of management for metastatic disease, but the use of cytoreductive surgery with and without hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (CRS/HIPEC) is being established as a promising option with survival benefit for select patients.
Results:
Identifying best management practices for patients with CRPM is critical as intervention with CRS/HIPEC can carry significant risks of morbidity and mortality.
Conclusions:
This guideline report aims to summarize the existing literature regarding optimal management of patients with CRPM and current areas of ongoing investigation.
