Lymphangiography in genitourinary cancer

No radiographic technique is capable of detecting microscopic disease and so the lymphangiogram must always be expected to have more false-negative results when compared with the results of surgical staging. It is apparent, however, that gross nodal metastases can be detected with a high degree of accuracy for selected genitourinary tumors. In spite of advances in diagnostic imaging, the bipedal lymphangiogram continues to have a place in the staging of genitourinary tumors.
