Background:

Limb amputations remain a common procedure worldwide, despite medical advancements.
The procedure significantly impacts patients' mental and physical health.

Purpose of the Study:

To analyze clinical characteristics of limb amputations.
To assess the quality of life in individuals undergoing amputation.
To identify factors associated with complications and revisions.

Main Methods:

Retrospective single-center study.
Inclusion of 268 patients from 2015-2021.
Collection of demographic, clinical data, and Short Form-36 outcomes.

Main Results:

Lower extremity amputations for peripheral vascular disease had higher complication rates.
16.8% of cases experienced complications, and 12.3% required revisions.
Patients reported better health change scores but lower role-limitation scores.

Conclusions:

High rates of complications and revisions necessitate improved amputation care.
