In this work, we developed two novel heterocyclic γ-amino acids (Het-γAAs) based on thiazole and oxazole rings, preorganized in a C7-turn reminiscent of the peptide γ-turn in solution. Due to their role in stereoelectronic effects, the heteroatoms in the heterocycle act as a molecular switch, allowing control over conformations and stabilities of peptide turns.
