The forgotten continuous suture technique offers a practical alternative for the Bentall procedure, simplifying aortic valve and root repair. This method ensures better bleeding control and shorter ischemic times in complex cardiac surgeries.

Background:

The Bentall procedure is the standard treatment for combined aortic valve and root pathologies.
Traditional implantation uses interrupted sutures, which can be challenging.
A continuous suture technique presents a viable alternative for improved surgical efficiency.

Purpose of the Study:

To present a case study of a modified Bentall procedure using a continuous suture technique.
To evaluate the efficacy and safety of this technique in a young patient with Marfan syndrome.

Main Methods:

A modified Bentall procedure was performed on a 19-year-old male with Marfan syndrome.
An indigenous prosthetic valved conduit was implanted using a continuous suture technique.
The surgical approach focused on achieving adequate hemostasis and conduit alignment.

Main Results:

The procedure was uneventful, with no intraoperative complications.
Adequate hemostasis and proper conduit alignment were achieved.
No paravalvular leakage was observed postoperatively.

Conclusions:

The continuous suture technique is a safe and effective alternative for Bentall procedures.
This technique facilitates easier handling, better bleeding control, and reduced ischemic times.
The modified Bentall procedure with continuous suturing is suitable for complex aortic pathologies, including in young patients.
