Abstract:
A magnesium oxide (MgO) coating strategy is proposed for improving the cobalt-free high-nickel LiNi0.9Mn0.1O2 cathode. It is revealed that a MgO coating can stabilize reversible Ni3+/Ni4+ redox and suppress structural degradation. The MgO coated LiNi0.9Mn0.1O2 exhibits a promising capacity retention of 66.67% after 1000 cycles at 1C rate in a wide voltage range of 2.8-4.4 V.
