Abstract:
Monitoring the level of growth hormone (GH) is very important in childhood and adulthood because much or little secretion of growth hormone in the human body causes diseases such as dwarfism, gigantism and acromegaly. In this study, a lateral flow assay (LFA) was developed for quantitative determination of GH. The limit of detection value and the limit of quantification value of the designed sensor for GH were calculated as 8.38 ng/mL and 25.40 ng/mL, respectively. In short- and long-term stability studies of the developed LFA, it was observed that the test response remained stable even after 6 months. Besides, the quantitative analysis results of the developed LFA for detection of GH were compared to ELISA in buffer solution. The recovery values were found to be between 79.00 % and 109.34 % for the GH-LFA in buffer solution. Besides, GH-LFA was tested in human serum samples to demonstrate the feasibility of GH-LFA in complex matrices, and the recovery values were found to be between 79.76 % and 114.37 %. In addition, it was shown that GH-LFA is selective only for GH in the cross-reactivity tests. Results showed that the developed LFA can be used for quantitative detection of GH.
