Research on color speckle phenomenon in laser color displays based on human speckle perception
Abstract:
This paper utilizes Thurstone's law of comparative judgment to investigate the psychological perception of color speckle among 14 observers. Expressions describing color speckle under various color conditions are derived to extend existing theories. Chromatic properties are found to increase the severity of color speckle compared to monochromatic speckle. They result in the presence of regions exhibiting the highest severity. Moreover, speckle size directly affects the perceived severity. The theories developed within color space exhibit enhanced applicability. These new findings will facilitate the advancement concerning theories and techniques for color speckle suppression and assessment in laser color displays.
