Patella sleeve-fractures are a rare but significant injury, mostly affecting children aged 8-12. These avulsion fractures involve cartilage, periosteum, and bone, usually caused by forceful quadriceps contractions during knee flexion. Diagnosis can be challenging due to subtle radiographic changes, often leading to delayed treatment. Management depends on displacement severity: immobilisation versus surgery to restore extensor mechanism function. Early diagnosis and proper care are crucial to prevent complications like instability and functional impairment, as argued in this case.
