Abstract:
Herpes zoster is common in older adults. It can cause significant pain and lead to postherpetic neuralgia (PHN), which is often highly disabling. The management of PHN in older adults, who are frequently frail and polymorbid, requires adjustments to the patient's clinical condition. Both systemic and topical medications are often necessary. In refractory cases, non-pharmacological and/or interventional approaches may be beneficial.
