Abstract:
This article provides updates about the role of targeted and combination therapies in early-stage, resectable lung cancer. We highlight the clinical relevance of molecular testing and discuss key differences between immunotherapy and targeted therapy. We provide an overview of serious adverse events (AE), surgery-related AEs, and other surgical outcomes within landmark clinical trials. We discuss questions warranting future research, information on contemporary developments related to less common oncogenic drivers, and compare benefits and risks of neoadjuvant and adjuvant treatment. Lastly, we share relevant current and future clinical studies that will help elucidate the effect of targeted-treatments in the peri-operative setting.
