  • Ethical issues were noted in 11 out of 56 surgical DoD GHE, with a high proportion (72.7%) originating from hospital ship missions.

Conclusions:

  • There is a clear need for specialized ethics curriculum for direct patient care in DoD GHE.
  • Future research should evaluate the impact of training programs and identify best practices for managing ethical and systemic challenges in diverse operational settings.
