Area of Science:

  • Aesthetics
  • Dermatology
  • Medical Devices

Background:

  • Growing demand for noninvasive body contouring procedures as alternatives to liposuction.
  • Evaluation of a novel device integrating electrical muscle stimulation, radiofrequency, and vacuum technology.
  • Focus on abdominal fat reduction and muscle enhancement for body shaping.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To assess the efficacy and safety of a multimodal noninvasive device for abdominal contouring.
  • To evaluate changes in abdominal fat, muscle thickness, and waist circumference.
  • To determine patient satisfaction and tolerability of the treatment.

Main Methods:

  • Prospective study involving 20 adults (28-50 years, BMI 22-28 kg/m²).
  • 16 sessions over 8 weeks (two 30-min sessions/week) targeting the abdomen.
  • Outcomes measured: ultrasonographic fat/muscle thickness, waist circumference, BMI, standardized photos, patient satisfaction, safety, and downtime.

Main Results:

  • Significant decrease in abdominal fat thickness (0.61 cm, P < 0.001) and waist circumference (2.13 cm, P < 0.001).
  • Significant increase in abdominal muscle thickness (0.24 cm, P < 0.001) and reduction in BMI (-0.53, P < 0.001).
  • Improved perceived contour and skin elasticity, high patient satisfaction, and minimal downtime.

Conclusions:

  • Combined electrical muscle stimulation, radiofrequency, and vacuum therapy effectively reduces abdominal fat and waist size.
  • The noninvasive approach enhances muscle thickness and improves body contour with good tolerability.
  • This multimodal therapy presents a promising option for noninvasive abdominal shaping.
