[Building a standardized diagnosis and treatment system for rare lung diseases in China: current progress and key

Abstract:
Over the past decade, China has made remarkable progress in both rare disease research breakthroughs and the development of a national care system, laying a solid foundation for advancing the field of respiratory genetic and rare diseases. This perspective focuses on the opportunities and challenges of genetic and rare lung diseases in China. Based on a wealth of resources of clinical cases of genetic and rare lung diseases, it is necessary to focus on priorities to address the key clinical problems, promote collaborative partnerships, integrate resources and datasets effectively, break down existing obstacles, overcome bottlenecks in diagnosis and treatment, and adopt a dual-driver approach combining clinical and basic research. Ultimately, the goal is to build a standardized diagnosis and treatment system for genetic and rare lung diseases, thereby enhancing the quality of the treatment and care for patients across China.
