Abstract:
Oral icotrokinra, a selective interleukin-23 receptor antagonist, is an emerging treatment for moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis in adults and adolescents. Clinical trials show it significantly reduces Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) scores and provides symptom relief. It works well in patients who have not used systemic therapies before or have widespread disease. Unlike injectable treatments, icotrokinra is taken orally, making it more convenient and potentially improving adherence. It has shown an effective safety profile, with mostly mild side effects like stomach discomfort and no serious adverse events. As interest in this therapy grows, it may become an important option in psoriasis care, helping to improve quality of life and reduce the long-term burden of this chronic skin condition.
