Abstract:
Kawasaki disease is an acute vasculitis affecting mostly children under 5 years of age. If left untreated, patients are at risk of 25% coronary involvement. European and NorthAmerican guidelines have recently been updated. Diagnostic is based on the association of skin, mucosal and lymphoid symptom and can be made up to 4 days after fever onset in complete forms. High-risk coronary criteria are used to guide the early treatment. Progress in immunological and cardiac treatments enhances refractory disease and coronary complication prognosis. This article incorporates recent proposals while focusing on key practices in french-speaking Switzerland.
