Abstract:
This paper reports one case of autonomic dysfunction in multiple system atrophy treated with acupuncture. In pathogenesis, kidney deficiency and marrow decline were involved. In treatment, Sun's scalp acupuncture was adopted in combination with yinyang acupuncture therapy. Point prescription was composed of Baihui (GV20), Ningshen (Extra), Zhongji (CV3), Guanyuan (CV4) and Mingmen (GV4); as well as emotion area, foot-motor-sensory area, vasomotor area, urinary-reproduction area, Tianshu (ST25), Zhaohai (KI6), Shenshu (BL23), Dachangshu (BL25), Pangguangshu (BL28) and Ciliao (BL32) on bilateral sides. The transcranial repetitive stimulation technique was used in scalp acupoints. Electroacupuncture was applied to bilateral foot-motor-sensory area, Tianshu (ST25) and Ciliao (BL32). The treatment was provided once daily, 5 times a week and for 4 weeks. After treatment completion, the symptoms were alleviated. It was found in 4 weeks of followup, the overall condition of illness was stable and the disease was not worsened.
