In France, the structuring of nursing as a discipline at university level is still a recent development. As such, nursing science lecturers and researchers play an essential role in its growth. It must be noted that nurses write little and make only partial use of research findings in their care practices. Teachers and researchers are called upon to open up new avenues of research, to enrich training, and to establish the discipline firmly within universities.
