Abstract:
Eosinophilic esophagitis is a chronic, immune-mediated condition traditionally diagnosed and monitored through sedated endoscopy with biopsy. This invasive method, while essential, poses challenges for routine care. This article summarizes current research on noninvasive and minimally invasive biomarkers spanning blood, tissue, and esophageal sampling methods that aim to improve diagnostic accuracy, monitor disease activity, and guide personalized treatment. While no biomarker is yet validated for clinical use, advances in translational science and technology hold promise for integrating these tools into future care models.
