Abstract:
The pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic characteristics of antiarrhythmic drugs (AADs) help guide agent selection, dosing, and monitoring. Many AADs have complex mechanisms and require close monitoring to prevent adverse effects. The pharmacodynamic differences of AADs are primarily grouped by the Vaugh Williams Classification. These agents also have varied pharmacokinetic principles that require attention to renal and hepatic function, as well as possible drug interactions.
