Atomic-level homogeneously mixed and well-dispersed Ir0.85Bi0.15 solid-solution nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized successfully for the first time despite large differences of crystal structures, redox potentials and atomic radii between Ir and Bi. Compared with Ir, the Ir0.85Bi0.15 solid-solution NPs exhibited superior cost-efficiency in hydrazine decomposition.
