Database of 2025 Night of the Museums events in Poland

This article focuses on events organized in Poland as part of the 2025 Night of Museums distributed in two data files. The first data file contains the number of events in the villages, towns and cities that participated in this initiative. Each locality contains the local government unit in which it is located, its geographical coordinates, the date of the events, and the number of events. The second data file contains the number of events and two indicators aggregated at the commune level. Each commune is assigned a population, number of accommodation beds, and two indicators. The first indicator represents the number of events per 100,000 inhabitants, while the second represents the number of events per 1000 beds. Information about the events was collected from the city or other organizers' websites, their social media, and various local and supra-local portals. Because the data is presented in different ways, certain criteria for event counting were adopted to ensure comparable values ​​for different towns and cities. A list of towns with coordinates, population, and number of beds was downloaded from official government websites, and the selected data from the various files was then combined, resulting in two data files. In addition to the dataset, the obtained values ​​are also presented on two maps. The first shows the number of events occuring in individual towns. The second map differentiates towns by the days on which the events occurred. This database has enormous potential, which can be widely used by researchers studying the Night of Museums phenomenon, by government and local government officials organizing events, by individuals and establishments offering accommodation, and by ordinary residents and tourists wishing to better understand the history and heritage of their city, region, or country.
