Mental disorders often require a combination of therapies, including pharmacological, biological, psychotherapy, family and systemic therapy, and occupational therapy. These form the foundation of optimal medical care, especially in public settings. Additionally, complementary medicine, which was once considered "alternative", has evolved into "integrative" medicine, aiming to synergize with conventional treatments. Integrative approaches focus on balance and movement as central concepts in healing, while also emphasizing the individual's resources and vitality alongside pathological processes. Two case studies will be presented to illustrate the benefits of integrative psychiatry, particularly in complex and treatment-resistant cases, as well as its potential to improve therapeutic outcomes in somatoform and psychosomatic disorders, and cases of treatment resistance.
