Introduction:
Cataract surgery is the most common surgical procedure in modern medicine and aims to improve patients' quality of life. Although cataract surgery has a relatively high success rate, proper preoperative preparation is essential to minimize potential complications. The primary care physician is the only senior healthcare provider capable of assisting the ophthalmic surgeon in preparing the patient for surgery and enabling informed surgical planning by ensuring all risk factors are known. This review outlines the latest preoperative considerations, focusing on the essential medical information that the primary care physician should convey to the surgeon.
