A novel approach to quantitative morphology characterization of ceria nanoparticles based on their electron trap

Abstract:
The composition of the exposed crystalline facets of ceria particles with characteristic morphologies was quantitatively evaluated to determine their "average" morphology. This was achieved via peak deconvolution of the energy-resolved distribution of the electron traps of the ceria particles, as measured using reversed double-beam photoacoustic spectroscopy. The implications of this facet composition analysis for catalysis are also discussed.
